The Consolations Of Philosophy
The Consolations Of Philosophy
This is a wonderfully accessible book dealing with problems of everyday life and using thoughts from six famous thinkers. It is very easy to read, and you don’t need to know anything about ’doing philosophy’ to enjoy it. It is also set out in short punchy paragraphs so you don’t feel overwhelmed by too many words.

Does the book look at The Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius? That was one of the strangest reads I've ever encountered. I'm interested in other works written by people in peril (Beothius wrote in his prison cell - awaiting a death sentence) - do you know of any?
Is it just my computer or...
...is this entire page scored out?
more consolations
Yeah, admin coding probably!
I wrote a summary of Alain's book about Epicurus here on Xomba.
Different book to Boethius'. And yes, Boethius seemed one of the few intelligent people of his time. Was stitched up with the customary fake charge. His textbooks on number theory and arithmetic I've read - some of them - he wanted to bring back the genuine Greek Liberal Arts (that had been so watered-down as to be close to a course in stupidity) to a society ignorant of most things apart from religion and wars.

Strikethough
It's the same on my machine... maybe there's some code in your text. There have been times when a person puts in code to made something bold and forgets to including a closing tag, and the rest of the page comes out bold.
