Rense.com the alternative news website of the Jeff Rense Program has been under attack for over a week now and liable to go offline at any time again. From the description it looks like a standard DDOS (Distributed Denial Of Service) attack by persons unknown. This has been verified by American Chronicle.

DDOS attacks are fairly easy to setup and target a victim website. We are seeing their increasing use every time some war flares up. The question is not so much whether a site can survive such attacks. In the sense that huge sites such as banks, ebay, amazon etc, get attacked all the time but rarely does anybody notice. This is because these companies spend huge amounts on multiple servers and protection. The question is whether Rense has the money to upgrade. This is ultimately a financial attack.

You may not agree with everything Rense reports but an internet without dissenting voices will turn into pre-packaged corporate television.
