Conspiracy Theories Aren't Always Invented By Crackpots So Beware!

Why have the conspiracy theorists turned against themselves so to speak today? By this I mean that one of the more popular ones making the rounds today says that 9/11 was a government conspiracy directed against us. The World Trade Center kamikazes were on the CIA payroll and the Pentagon attack was a missile and not an airplane.
Beneath all this lies an extension of what I wrote about in my earlier dialogue on conspiracy theories. This is that our government and that of Israel were in league to create an atmosphere which would send us into a patriotic frenzy directed against the Arab states, most of which are the sworn enemies of Israel. And once we had delivered their enemies into oblivion Israel could move ahead unobstructively with their goal of world domination.
Preposterous no? Malicious no? Yes to both of course, but the fact remains that there are many people who carry this theory around with them in their daily worldview. A question I had to wrestle with as I began to try to unravel this psychological mélange was that how could anyone simply ignore the obvious explanations and go in search of one as far out as this one is. I found two answers at the same time. The answer to the first is that they digressed back into history to a previous time when such treachery was used and this was the Reichstag fire and the staged Polish incursions into German territory which were used to justify invading Poland and to institute martial law across Germany permanently.
This is where they get their lesson from and why they chose the Third Reich as their example it also explains why they think the way they do which is that the Nazis are their role model and business model so where better to get their modus operandi from than their role model?
So whenever we hear of these theories being bantied about (and I hasten to point out that courses proposing these theories are being offered in American universities – each of which are very liberal in mindset I add), we need to understand exactly where they are coming from.
