controlling pet rodent odor

The smell of pet rodents is similar to the aroma of soft pretzels . It is a very salty smell . Many times if you walk into a science lab or an old building that has mice or rats you can smell this odor.

There are simple ways to prevent having rodent smell in your house from pets .

Be sure to clean all cages and pens thoroughly on a regular basis two to three times a week . Wash them out with hot soapy water, rinse them out several times and dry them with soft white paper towels. Use absorbent litter. The most effective I have tried is the shredded recycled paper litter similar to the consistency of mulched up paper egg cartons.

Make sure your pet rodents have an ample supply of fresh water in their water bottles.

Feed your pets a variety of foods as well as their rat pellets, including fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains.

You can also use alfalfa grass litter to add a fresh herbal aroma to the house.

I have had pet rats for more than two years and not once have I had any trouble with or noticed the rodent smell.
