Could Bush's Policy on War in Iraq Cause Problems for Republican Candidates?

How likely will it be that we will have another Republican president from 2008-2012? This article seems to suggest that the likelihood of another Republican president relies on whether or not Bush will bend a little on when and how to pull out troops in Iraq. If he does bend, what will happen in Iraq? Washington could lead Iraq into a more peaceful government by example of the ability to compromise. Can either of these things be done? We have yet to find out.
