One of the America's most successful country singers, Eddy Arnold, 89, died today in a Nashville-area care facility. Arnold is best remembered for his song "Make the World Go Away." Arnold had many other No. 1 country hits as well as a Top 10 hit on pop music charts.
A pioneer of "The Nashville Sound," he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1966 and, in 1967, became the first person to receive the Country Music Association's entertainer of the year award.
