Court Nixes Janet Jackson Wardrobe Malfunction FCC Fine
CBS Corp. won't have to pay the $550, 000 indecency fine for the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction that occurred during the 2004 Super Bowl half time show.
In a statement issued Monday, CBS said, "This is an important win for the entire broadcasting industry because it recognizes that there are rare instances, particularly during live programming, when it may not be possible to block unfortunate fleeting material, despite best efforts."
An estimated 90 million people were watching the 2004 Super Bowl half time show of Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's song 'Gonna Have You Naked By The End Of This Song'. The purported wardrobe malfunction occurred when Timberlake reached across Janet Jackson and swiftly grabbed her bustier, exposing her breast on live TV.
