Craft Show Sales: Set it Up Right and Make Money

If you have a hobby or love to make crafts, and are thinking of taking the next step, by making your crafts into a business, then take note:

Display and setup is everything at a craft show.  If you are just starting out, head out to the next craft show in your area, and see how everyone else is setup.  Pay particular attention to access to the crafts at each craft show booth.

Do you see a jumble of people all trying to get a good look at one table perched in the aisle?  That is quite common, and if this is a craft show around the holidays, then it can ge busy and a traffic jam will follow.  People will feel obligated to move on, just like they are on a slow moving treadmill, as people and your potential customers get pushed forward along the aisles with all the other moving people.

Some of these shows, do not allow much space for the aisles, and this can add to the congestion, as friends and customers walk side by side.  You need to be able to stop customers, and get them to look at your crafts.

The first thing you should do, is stand up, most people feel intimidated by vendors sat behind the one table of their crafts starring at their every move.  You should mingle with any potential customers, and dress nice, and smile.  Do not be eating your sandwich at the table, or be reading a book.  This shows absolutely no interest in your craft business.

You need to create an area in your craft show booth, that is welcoming.  You can do this by either re-arranging the tables, or using display stands instead.  You need create a small store atmosphere to get customers off the path and into your space.

There is no use in having everyone mulling around in the aisle in front of your table, this just creates chaos, and you will lose many of your potential customers.

So, even if you are a seasoned crafter, with many craft shows under your belt.  Try and change your layout in your space and see the difference.  My friend and I did this, and there was a huge difference in sales.  Many customers, remarked, that they did not like see the vendors sitting behind their table either starring at their every move, or total disinterest.

So keep this in mind for your next craft show, and get your business off the ground.   Click Here and learn more about setups in your craft booth show.
