Crawfish Pots are a Huge Hit at Suppertime
posted October 22, 2009 - 5:06pmIf you are off in a search for crawfish pots, you must be aware that they are a huge worry to the little flipping crustaceans. With their large size, they are capable of holding many gallons of boiling water, and the poor little red eyed mudbugs have nothing but fear for the roiling water.
It’s not as calm and soothing as a bubbling stream or river bed. This is a whole other type of bubbling water. It’s the kind that makes supper for the rest of us so appealing. It’s fresh crawfish put into a pot. It is mudbugs, with their heads off and their brains sucked in by gaping mouths.
The crawfish pot came about because typically, many pounds of crawfish are boiled at one time, due to their small size each. Get a few buddies together, or an entire family from the bayou and you need to be able to cook many of the little critters at one time to satisfy the needs of so many people. The large pots are placed over a roaring fire, and when the water is boiling aggressively, the entire lot of snapping crawfish are thrown in, and boiled quickly for a couple minutes.
Add some potatoes, carrots and maybe some sausage, and you have a feast that will be remembered by the locals for as long as the crawfish pot is visible in the yard. It is a great time by all with music and dancing, and random thoughts all in a row. Don’t miss it. With only 1.59 @ 1,000 views a month, it may not perform well, but every view helps.
