Cult Actor Dick Miller in: A Bucket of Blood (1959)
There are cult actors. And then there is DICK MILLER. Dick Miller, born 1928, is probably the greatest and most popular cult actor alive and still working today.
Huh? You don't know who Dick Miller is? Shame on you! But I can assure you that you've seen him in a bitpart somewhere. He was the man who sells guns to Arnold in THE TERMINATOR. He was on FAME on TV. He's in most, if not all, of Joe Dante's movies - and is usually playing a character called Walter Paisley.
Walter Paisley. That's the name of his character in A BUCKET OF BLOOD from 1959, a macabre comedy directed by Roger Corman. Miller was in lots of Corman movies during this period, but here he actually plays the lead.
Paisley is working in a beatnik café. He's jealous of the artists hanging out there, but when he accidentally kills a cat and covers it with plastic to hide it, so it looks like a sculpture, Paisley turns into a succesful sculptor. And he does more than cats. He does humans as well...
A BUCKET OF BLOOD was shot in five days, and the sets were reused for THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, which they filmed the following weekend (!).
Spanish B-movie legend Jess Franco has made a movie on the same theme called SADISTEROTICA.
A BUCKET OF BLOOD is in public domain, meaning it can be downloaded and watched legally and free. Click the link below for a site where you can stream it.
