Cure Allergies With Foods

Besides being careful not to come into contact with allergenic substances, you can also relieve your allergy symptoms by eating the right foods. Since allergies are caused by your immune system being hyperactive, it would make sense for us to consume more foods that make our body less responsive to the allergy triggers.

1. Oily Fish

Oily fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are natural anti-inflammatory agents. They make the body release less inflammatory chemicals such as histamines and prostaglandins when triggered by allergens. A recent clinical survey in Germany have found that people who regularly eat a lot of oily fish have the lower rates of hay fever than those who don't.

2. Colorful Fruits and Vegetables

Don't stick to a few kinds of produce. Instead, add a variety of fruits and vegetables to your diet. Like omega-3 fatty acids, color fruits contain beta-carotene and flavonoids that counter the formation of inflammatory chemicals in the body. Plus, they are antioxidants that decelerate the deterioration of cells in our body.

3. Garlic and Onions

If you have asthma, load up on garlic and onions. A recent Korean study have found that garlic and onions not only relieve sinus pain but also improve lung function.

4. Yogurt

When the good and bad bacteria in your stomach are off-balance, your immune system can become hypersensitive and release abundant inflammatory chemicals when triggered by allergenic substances. Regular yogurt consumption can restore balance of good and bad bacteria in your stomach, allowing your immune system to be stree-free.

5. Water

Visit the water cooler more often. Dehydration can worsen allergy symptoms, especially asthma. A number of studies have found that adequate consumption of water can lessen exercise-induced asthma. To double your water intake without drinking more, try to eat  water-rich fruits and vegetables.
