Cute Will Win A Smile

Cute Will Win A Smile

Cuteness is the child’s first positive source of power and leverage. Parents love it, the child loves it, and so does everyone else. Being cute gets the child’s attention and affection from parents and people around the child. Cute is vulnerability made charming. Cute will win a smile, cute will win a quick hug and cute will win approval. Cute get it way but it is indirect and based upon manipulation of someone else’s feeling and actions.

In our traditional, sex-stereotyped homes, cute behaviour begins to be subtly and sometimes not so subtly. Funny as it may sound, cute behaviour is discouraged in boys but encouraged in girls. Fathers in particular openly revel in the cool and helpless manner that their daughters employ with them.
