Dallas Cowboys Best in the NFL Through Week 3
posted September 22, 2008 - 10:54amHow 'bout them Cowboys!
The Cowboys were supposed to lose last night. After all, no Cowboys team ever won at Lambeau Field. (Similarly, no Packers team has ever won at Texas Stadium, so the home team has "ruled the roost" each time, going back to 1960.)
The Packers were also 2-0 and put up 48 points on the Detroit Lions just last week.
The Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles last week by 4 points in a high-scoring affair and should have fallen victim to the famous "Monday night hangover".
None of that mattered when the clock read 0:00 last night. Cowboys 27, Packers 16. History made by the Cowboys.
The standings show the Cowboys are not 3-0 and the Packers are 2-1. Granted, there is still lots of football left to play this regular season, much less playoffs and Superbowl, but the Cowboys have two wins against quality NFC teams and they crushed a highly-regarded AFC team.
The Cowboys have proven they can do it with pass offense, run offense, defense, and special teams. For many NFL analysts, including NFL.com's Vic Carucci, the Dallas Cowboys are setting the standard for NFL teams.
I am thankful to have DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket, so I can watch all of the Cowboys games this season. If you live outside of your team's television market, you should seriously consider getting it.
