Dana Jacobson: Another Sportscaster Gets Herself in Trouble
posted January 23, 2008 - 12:06pmESPN anchor Dana Jacobson is the latest sportscaster to be benched for inappropriate remarks. Earlier this month she was speaking at a roast for two fellow ESPN sportcasters, Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic,, and made some derogatory remarks about Notre Dame, where one of the roastees attended college. (The remarks included "F*** Notre Dame" and "F*** Jesus.")
As you can imagine, people are frantically searching for a Dana Jacobson video from the Mike & Mike roast. No such video has turned up so far, although there is a short video of profanity-laced remarks by Jeffrey Ross.
Dana Jacobson will serve a one-week suspension for her comments. Jacobson has reportedly apologized for her remarks.
This coming soon after a TV announcer was punished for using the word "lynch" in a comment about how to stop golfer Tiger Woods, and a golf magazine was criticized for referring to the lynching comment by putting a noose on its cover.
Jacobson was supposedly drinking vodka on the stage as well. She was not the only one making racy comments; the host used profanity liberally, and made jokes about things like Mike Ditka's... um... phallic member. I guess at a sports roast, speakers figure the racier and more un-PC the better...
