Dave: A Profile From Obscurity

Dave: a Profile From Obscurity

Today I went bowling for the first time this year. It isn’t all that important to note that I haven’t been bowling in all too many months, but I figured if your reading this you probably have a simple curiosity and a passion for details. So, first off I will let you know that I don’t bowl habitually, but rather for the occasional fun of it.
It was on this not so typical trip to the local bowling alley that I met Dave. Dave is a ‘regular’ here at Victory Bowl. After just having met him, I decided to invite him to bowl with me for the evening. You know, I am really glad I did. As it turns out; Dave hangs out at the bowling alley practically every night and I couldn’t have done nearly so well without him.
Dave had a worn out look about him. He was sort of rough around the edges. But still was ready to bring a sound game to the table.
By now you have probably already figured out that Dave is a bowling ball. He was the best 16lb bowling ball I could have used that evening. I was first drawn to him just because he was yellow, which happens to be my favorite color. His yellow tint reminded me of my first car a 1973 Chevy Nova. His chipped and worn holes weren’t the perfect fit, but they would certainly do for a quick hour of non-competitive bowling.
I landed strikes during my first 2 frames with ease. Dave was a special ball indeed.
When I first examined Yellow Dave, I couldn’t help but think of the potential for a nice article. I figured it would be a good simple story about an ordinary object that is far too often taken for granted. After all, can anyone bowl without the ball?

"Yellow Dave" The Bowling Ball
DAVE a Profile from Obscurity
I can only guess about the life of the man who made Dave his namesake. It is obvious that Dave’s original owner was in all probability named Dave. By that assumption I could also tell you that Dave was a man.
A large, right handed man with pretty huge fingers, Dave must have been. Oh, yes, and he liked the color yellow, and at some unknown time he lived nearby to Victory Bowl where he likely enjoyed bowling for many years and may for all I know, continues to do so. He also probably didn’t like throwing things away that are still useful. Like “Yellow Dave the Bowling Ball” rather he donated him to the very alley he frequented so often.

I really enjoyed writing about this one, but I wish I had a little more to tell. I may be able to pull up a few more details and revise it.
I did just add a picture of Dave. I can't believe I had forgotten to put his picture up.

You needed the photo of Dave to complete the byte. I may print out a copy of Dave for my office cubicle and put it in a nice frame, ha ha. Like I said, this xombyte really made me laugh!

Great Story!
Great story. I love how you have taken the time to look around in your every day life and find things that you can post about on Xomba. You never did say how well your game was with Dave, the yellow bowling ball. Did you do well?
The color really does look a lot like the color of your 1973 Nova, which I've seen.
You never know, maybe the actual owner of the ball will see this post, recognize the ball and make a reply.
Thanks for the story,
CMC

How Well Done?
I didn't think about posting the scores when I was playing cuz, it was all about the ball. :)
My first game was worth 127 points. The other 2.5 games were less than that, but it was still a lot of fun, and throughout all the games I must have thrown about 6 strikes and 3 spares.
I really hope that whoever owned Dave and donated him to the alley, will read this one day. It would be pretty incredible, but highly unlikely.
After all, I don't think I have ever searched for any of my old bowling balls...
