Dealing with Noisy Neighbors

Dealing with Noisy Neighbors

Dealing with noisy neighbors can be very frustrating. Living in a small city for the last few years, I have had to deal with a lot of obnoxious and rowdy neighbors. I have found that some neighbors can be reasoned with. Many times your neighbors may not even be aware that they are being so noisy and disruptive. If your are calm and polite in asking them to quite down a little, you might just have remedied the situation as simply as that.

At the same time, not everyone will be so responsive to your request. If your neighbor refuses to respond to your request to quite down, or verbally abuses or threatens you in any way, you should call your local police immediately and let them deal with the situation. If you suspect that the noise is the result of domestic violence or a party where alcohol or other drugs might be involved, you should, for your own safety, skip the personal request and go straight to the police. They will be much better equipped to handle the situation if it gets out of hand. However, in most other instances, it is typically in your best interest to first try to resolve the situation on your own. Neighbors who are unaware of the noise pollution they are creating may become hostile if you send the cops to their house rather than addressing them personally.

There is also the possibility that you have a problem with your neighbors due to different work schedules. People who work over night might be angry if their neighbor decides to play loud music in the early afternoon. It is very unfortunate for them as the rest of the world is on a different schedule and can't adjust their lives to fit their neighbors needs.

It's always best when it comes to noisy neighbors to first be honest and open. If you are angry, you might want to send a calmer person over to discuss the problem with the neighbors. You don't want to create more conflict. Don't involve the police unless it's absolutely necessary, but don't hesitate to call if you feel there could be alcohol or drugs or a domestic disturbance at the cause of the noise.

Unfortunately, there are times when all your efforts come out
unrewarded. There are times when you just have to be patient, buy some good ear plugs, and possibly move.

Say an affirmation 10x every day

The problem with complaining about something constantly is that you are sending the message to the Universe with your intention that you want more of the same. The simplest way to rid yourself of pesky neighbors (or ensure that such people never move into your already peaceful neighborhood) is to send positive energy out everyday for what you really want. To whit: "I live in a peaceful and safe neighborhood and get along very well with my friendly and polite neighbors and landlord (for those renting)." Say this 10x every day while looking into your reflection in the mirror and tapping your throat with your hand, which emphasizes your affirmation by activating your throat chakra. Even if you don't necessarily understand the metaphysical aspect of affirmations or intentions, keep the focus on what you really want instead of what you don't want in all areas of your life and you will attract positive things because of the Law of Attraction. (One note, whenever you want to make an affirmation, never use a negative, i.e. "I don't have bad neighbors" because the Universe doesn't use negatives and will disregard them, making your affirmation "I have bad neighbors", which sort of defeats the purpose.)
