Dear Duggars, Enough Already!
posted October 15, 2009 - 11:46pmTLC's The Duggars, from 18 Kids and Counting, have enough children for a football, basketball, soccer, or baseball team. When does it become too many, even for the Duggars? Aging, grandchildren, and money not only make the Duggars fascinating, but gutsy to say the least. Has this couple jumped aboard the Crazy Train, leaving common sense far behind?
With Michelle Duggar being 43 and pregnant, there are extra health risks she and baby face. The baby has a higher risk of low birth weight or Down Syndrome. Older pregnant women are also at a greater risk of high blood pressure. With that many children, how can it not be high, already?
Besides the here and now, what about the Duggars being 61, with a senior in high school? Geritol, in a mass supply, is going to be a daily necessity.
It's high time for the Duggars to stop having babies and enjoy grandchildren. Although there is no modernized thinking here, to say the least, this couple should realize that they may never live to see all of their grandchildren.
Even with the best six figure income, supporting 19 kids has to be tough, even for the Duggars. One positive attribute to this? Internet, Xbox, and all of the other luxuries today's kids enjoy are not encouraged in the Duggar's home. I can attest to the amount of money they're saving, with cell phones, ipods, Xboxs, and laptops alone.
No matter how sheltered the Duggar's children may be, the cost of living is still present. According to MSN, it's about $10,000.00 per child/per year for an average, middle class household.
Highly religious, most of us can understand the idea both Duggars share- Not wanting to stop God. He does give us sense enough to turn to experts when ill, as well as for preventive medicine. This is a great case in point- Birth control.
I'm reminded of the man in a flood, where evacuation was necessary. He wouldn't leave by car, claiming that God would save him. As the water got higher, a man in a boat came for him. He refused, shouting "God will save me." On the tip of his roof, a helicopter flew over to rescue him. Once again, he refused to go. The man died. In Heaven, God asked him, "Why wouldn't you get out of there?""I thought you would save me," he replied. "I sent you a car, a boat, and a helicopter. What more did you want?"
Duggars, enough already. There are too many health risks, you have grandchildren to spoil, and money must be tight. Make an intelligent decision and stop being a baby factory. God sent the car, the boat, and the helicopter 10 children ago.

You're Exactly Right
Thanks for the input! Although the Duggars are good, honest people, mass producing has to be called for what it is. I completely agree about adoption, foster children, and other children waiting to be loved. With the way things are going, the Gosselin children might qualify.

I couldn't agree with you more!
I was excited to come across your article. My sister and I were just talking about the Duggars the other day. We too cannot believe they keep on having children, especially with their age. We completely agree that they should stop creating and just enjoy the children they already have, and grandchildren to come. What really gets me about the Duggars is that there are so many children in this world who need a home whether it be through adoption, foster care, or both. If the Duggars have so much love to give and such open arms why aren't they helping children in need rather than creating more and more of their own children. There should be a limit to the number of children a person can concieve, the world is running out of room and elements for the people it already has in it.
Thanks for the post!
