Dear Mia: Chiller Font Bucks the Stereotype
posted October 29, 2008 - 3:09pmDear Mia,
As Halloween approaches, I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that just because I am the font named “Chiller”, I am not always scary. I feel unfairly judged because I’m only used in Halloween or spooky party invitations. To be honest, it’s really only in the last two weeks of October that people pick me for their font and then I am pretty much abandoned for the next eleven months.
My question to you, Mia, is why don’t people buck this stereotype and try using me for other written documents? Why not give Times New Roman a rest for their next memo or instead of choosing Bookman for a report, think outside the box and give me a try? Do people really think that Garamond is always a gentleman? I’ve seen Garamond after a night of drinking and partying…he’s no gentleman and has upset Gigi on several occasions (and sadly, Gigi still pines for him even though he has been salaciously linked to Curlz and Lucida Calligraphy).
Please, Dear Mia readers, give me a chance to be your font. I am committed to be typo-free and consider it my job to make you look good. I think your boss would love to see me in your next budget expense report! I have so much potential. All I ask is that you think about it. Sincerely,
The Friendly Font
Dear Chiller,
You make a convincing argument for yourself. I agree that you shouldn’t be judged on what you look like but instead by your character(s). I encourage all of my readers to use you in different document types as well. I admire your willingness to take on new jobs with such a professional attitude. Take heart, Chiller, and remain bold. It sounds like Garamond could learn a lot from you. BTW, Happy Halloween!
Sincerely,
Mia
