The Delivery Room

This is a true account of what happened the morning that my youngest son was born. I might not have the quotes exactly right, (It was after all almost 34 years ago.) but the general message is right. What the doctor told me is that the lady did die when she saw her Grandbaby being born.
When my youngest son was born, my wife talked me into staying in the delivery room with her; I didn't want to be in there, but I did agree that I would be with her. Before Carolyn went into the delivery room, however, I had to leave for a few minutes. When I got back the doctor said, “Mr. Brewer I need to talk to you for a minute.” Dr. Colquitt and I stepped into a small room; then he told me, “Carolyn said, ‘You want to be in the delivery room when the baby is being born.’” I said, “No, I don’t want to be there, but I did tell her that I would be, because she wants me to be there with her. Dr. Colquitt said, “If you insist I will let you stay, but I would prefer that you not be there. Carolyn told me that you have epilepsy, and I do not want the responsibility of taking care of you if you should have a seizure.” Dr. Colquitt also said, “One time I was delivering a baby, and the woman wanted her mother to be there. I agreed and when the baby began coming out the woman’s mother fainted. I finished delivering the baby and turned to check on the mother and bring her back around; however, when I checked on her I found that she had not fainted at all. She was dead. Seeing the baby being born had caused the woman’s mother to have a heart attack, and she had died right in the delivery room; I do not recommend that anyone go in the delivery room, but I do recommend that you not go in it. I would recommend the same for anyone that has a medical problem and has never seen anything like a baby being born.” Of course, Dr. Colquitt did not know that when I was growing up on the farm I saw several calves being born and had even helped deliver a few of the calves when the cows were having a hard time with the delivery. I didn't want to be in the delivery room, so I was not about to tell Dr. Colquitt about the calves that I had helped with. I was glad that I didn't have to be in the delivery room

Hmmm!
Hmmm! I think not. I probably would be dead if I had been. If she hadn't killem on the spot, I am sure that she would have when we got home. That baby weighed 9lbs. 20zs., and the next one was 9lbs 12 ozs. The first one was only 7 lbs. 8 ozs.
She sure had big babies.--especially the last two.
Thanks for commenting.
