Democrats Take Control! Will Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld Be Held Accountable? (by BigBadJohnny)

George Walker Bush, Richard Cheney,
Donald Rumsfeld
This is an important time in the history of America. With the Democratic party taking over the helm in Congress, we good Americans hope to see some substantial reaction to the corruption of the last few years. Our politicians, notably George Walker Bush, Richard Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld, may or may not be held accountable for grossly overstepping their authority, and selling out the people, and the government of the United States, for profit, and personal vendetta.
In those fright filled days following the destruction of the World trade center, in New York City, USA, the president took a reactionary stance, and made the determination to strike Iraq which was later found to have little or no involvement. Many of the 9/11 perpetrators were of Saudi Arabian descent.
Inspectors were on the ground with authority to inspect any area of Iraq, whenever they chose. They uncovered no Weapons of Mass destruction. The Iraqi Air Force was, as shown in satellite surveillance photos, buried in the desert.
The President believed weapon grade Uranium was being purchased by Iraq from Africa. An investigation proved this was false. When the President sought to suppress the indications of the investigation, career diplomat Joseph Wilson came forward bringing the results of the investigation directly to the American people. Infuriated, G W Bush sought to punish Wilson by exposing and endangering Wilson's wife, Valerie Plume. Iraq had no nuclear capacity, weapon oriented or otherwise.
The original source of the leak we have now learned was Richard Armitage, the Deputy Secretary of State under then Secretary of State Colin Powell.
President Bush violated the law by ordering phone and E-mail wiretaps on messages involving parties in Iraq, in their communications with U S residents. I'm Bush's worst critic, but I feel in this matter his heart may have been in the right place.
The President, in what appears to be unpardonable profiteering, sought to turn American Ports over to Dubai, an area which gives refuge to terrorists, and recognizes Al Quada. We can only speculate on his reasoning. He attempted to make this change while congress was on break.
Those supporting the President might liken his thinking to the Circus Wild Animal Tamer, who believes, if he takes the attitude the Tiger will be friendly and cooperative, the Tiger will be. Right!
Also consider the currently pervasive G W Bush technique of 'Threatening', which allows him far greater range in waging war. In this technique, the president 'threatens' his world neighbors, with or without appropriate diplomacy, Iran, Korea, and others, with, say, a preemptive military strike. When they continue with that which displeases Bush, the threat places Congress in an awkward position, requiring more compliance.
Bush continues to deplete national programs to continue his war. His aptitude in matters economic seems to be limited to "Give Americans money- they will SPEND it!
Consider if you will the Law of Diminishing Returns, and the issue of overseas spending.
A recent look at the national debt reveals that the figure is $8,512,778,166,001.75.
That is 8.5 Trillion dollars. The estimated population of the United States is 299,191,335 , so each citizen's share of this debt is $28,145.22. The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.62 billion per day since September 30, 2005! Talk about Voodoo economics.
Bush refuses to open a dialog with Osama Bin Laden, the acknowledged leader of the Terrorist forces. His father (Bush's father) also refused to communicate, particularly on the issue of linkage and the Persian Gulf. Bin Laden made what appeared to be a good faith call to negotiation, the President remained steadfast. Iran has agreed to negotiations. The president digs in his heels, and resists every such opportunity.
We have nothing to lose by negotiating; we are not obliged to make any deals, or accept any offers.any deals. Silence breeds misunderstanding. The President appears to be too unsure, too lacking in confidence to negotiate.
If I suggested impeachment, removal, and imprisonment, it would only offend good Americans who depend on elected officials to protect their interests.
But I do believe America has seen better days.
Much of this article, I wrote some weeks ago. Since that time, more has come to light on Bush's reasons for the attempted transfer of the American Ports to Dubai. See my forthcoming columns for more on this most important issue.
