Except cacti, some other plants can also thrive in the desert and can add color and charm to desert landscaping. The Mexican bird of paradise, bougainvillea comes in different varieties. The Mexican bird of paradise is little careful plant but adds color to the landscape. The Bougainvillea, a beautiful sturdy, comes in a variety of colors; the splashes of these red, orange or white colors against the warm browns of most of the desert terrain can be exciting. As compared to cactus plants, these plants need more care, but they do not need a great deal of care.

Oleander plants can also be used in desert landscaping because they can thrive in the desert but need little care from the gardener. They too can beautify your much beautiful desert landscaping. Your gardener can choose from red, orange, or white oleander plants. Lantana, easy to care for in the desert climate, may also be on the diary of your gardener. Gardener need not change these plants every year because these plants are perennial.
