For non Mexican citizens, getting married in Cancun is a bit more difficult than many other tropical locations. However, if couples are committed to a Cancun wedding, most travel experts advise working with a coordinator on sight to help with local legislation and translation of documents to Spanish as needed.

Blood Tests
Blood tests must be taken in Cancun no more than 15 days prior to the wedding. The test results are usually available within 24 hours. The results will be part of the official health certificate granted to the couple. The health certificate is a requirement for being granted a marriage license.

Time Requirements
Couples are required to be in Cancun at least 3 business days before the wedding. The passport entry stamp will be used to track time in country.

Marriage Application
The following information is required to complete the marriage application:
the couple’s names, address, occupation, ages, nationalities, marital status of bride and groom, their parents and the four witnesses.

The bride and groom and the four witnesses must present and sign documentation at least three business days before the wedding.

Required Documents
The following documents are required to get married in Cancun. Originals and copies must be provided.
• Certified Birth Certificate
• Passport
• Copy of a Photo ID
• Original health certificate (see above)
• FMT tourist card-this card is issued by the airline and stamped by immigration authorities upon arrival to Mexico

Proof of Marriage Dissolution: Divorced individuals must submit a copy of their divorce decree. Widows or Widowers must submit a death certificate of the deceased spouse.

Witnesses
If witnesses are not Mexican citizens, then the witnesses must present a valid passport and a copy of the FMT tourist card. Four witnesses are required.
