What is Dhanteras? Why is it celebrated? Dhanteras is celebrated on the eve of Diwali. The word "Dhan" means wealth, and so on the eve of Diwali it is considered auspicious to buy some new "metal" item for the house. It could be a silverware or gold or bronze utensil. < p>
