Diamond Dazzle

There’s good reason why a diamond is a girl’s best friend – it is, after all a perfect combination of good looks and toughness! A big event, whether is a red carpet appearance or a festive occasion, is incomplete without the dazzle of diamond jewellery. What makes diamonds so special is the fact that each one is unique; no two are alike. It takes many years for diamonds to be formed – the youngest is 900 million years old! While the white, transparent variety is what we are most used to, diamonds actually exist in many colours, the rarest of all being red.

Selecting a Diamond:

While it is easy to get enamoured by the beauty of a diamond, keep in mind the four Cs – cut, colour, clarity and carat weight – when you’re buying one for yourself.

Cut : The cut of a diamond determines its brilliance and is therefore considered the most important characteristic.

Colour: A diamond divides white light into a spectrum of colours and reflects this light as colourful flashes called fire. The less the colour in a diamond, the more colourful the fire, and the better the color grade.

Clarity: Diamonds that are absolutely clear are the most sought after and therefore the most expensive.

Carat: the metric carat, which equals 0.20 gram, is the standard unit of weight for diamonds. The size of the diamond has the biggest impact on its price.
