Did I Really Just Hear That in the McDonald's Ad?

Did I Really Just Hear That in the McDonald's Ad?

I'm glad I had a chance tonight to download this commercial on youtube to make sure that I heard it correctly.

The other night, I was happily typing away and the television was on in the family room. A McDonald's commercial started playing, you know the one with the cute kids losing a soccer game but "winning" a happy meal. The background music was groovin'... up until the point they started singing about salmonella!

Apparently, I'm not the only one who has heard it as a comment on the youtube page says the same thing.

I'm thinking that the ad execs need to watch their own commercials...are you telling me that nobody in the boardroom heard that?? The cast of Madmen would be ashamed.

Listen in at 0:51 seconds in to the song. I am getting older so maybe I'm imagining things...

Was just thinking about salmonella the other day

I bought a package of spinach and was thinking about the salmonella scare earlier this year...or was it last year, I can't remember.

Got to thinking about making a sticker that read: Now with more salmonella. Might make a funny pic, eh? :)

McDonald's commercial

Well, the whole commercial is in a non-English language, so I have no idea what any of the words mean. So while it may sound like "salmonella," I'm betting that it's not.

For that matter, there are Web sites devoted to misheard lyrics... songs lyrics (in English, no less) that people often hear as being something other than what they really are.

But the real question is, why is Mia watching fast-food commercials in foreign languages? Is this some odd hobby of hers? Hey, I enjoy foreign movies, but commercials?

Makes me wonder about the sanity of green-eyed people in general...

Trendy

In Mia's defense..Not once have I ever seen her claim to be sane. Also, since you do not seem to be very in tune with the latest trends, for people who do not have time to sit through entire foreign films, it has become 'tres chic' to watch foreign commercials, drink fancy coffee and act snooty..

Funny

Very funny and perfectly placed as the kid takes a bite!

I wouldn't be surprised if the McD's ad team are the people that put that on the web and called attention to it. Lot's of free advertising. The ad doesn't hurt sales in the market it targets because they understand it and it's just funny in the US market so people laugh about it and share it with others just like a viral marketing campaign.
