Divide your herbs in the fall to save money in the spring
Some plants prefer to be divided by the roots than to be grown from cuttings or seeds. Sometimes growing from seeds is just to difficult and time consuming for some plants.
After the herbs have self sowed and established themselves, you can safely takes some root stock by dividing the plant.
The following is a list of herbs that can be divided:
1. Anise Hyssop
2. Bee Balm
3. Calamint
4. Catmint
5. Chamomile
6. Creeping Thyme
7. Horseradish
8. Hyssop
9. Lemon Balm
10. Lemon Grass
11. Licorice
12. Lovage
13. Mint
14. Oregano
15. Pennyroyal
16. Sage
17. Savory
18. Sweet Woodruff
I find that some of these herbs need to be contained. Mint and Horseradish have taken over and I frequently need to divide just to maintain control of them.
Besides these herbs listed, you can also divide Rhubarb Chard, Irises (and other bulbs) and Hostas plants
