Diwali Rangoli Pictures

Diwali brings about a collage of colors to every Indian home in the form of Rangolis. Doorsteps and Aangans see a riot of colors as neighbors and friends vie to get the best Rangoli design in place. Rangoli patterns are decided early and the women folk get up early on the Diwali morning to paint and fill in the Rangoli colors.

First a drawing is made using wet chalk or wet ground rice flour. Then color powder is filled in at the appropriate places. The adventurous even alternate colors with paints and flowers. Sometimes in keeping with enviromental concerns only natural colours like turmeric are used.

Here are some Rangoli pictures, designs and patterns.
