Do the Republicans even have a Candidate for President?

Do the Republicans even have a Candidate for President?

I have asked and am still waiting for someone purportedly from the Right to give me (and, by extension, the voting public) a list of reasons why the geographically-challenged, septuagenarian, John McCain is the best candidate for our vote come November.

All I have seen so far--in words ranging from somewhat reasonable to utter screeching--is that he's not Barack Obama and he's not a Democrat. I will grant that Obama is not the first person I would consider to be the best man for the job, but, then again, neither is McCain. (I am not voting for either man for president, by the way.)

Let me preempt any of the usual partisan name-calling that typically follows any challenge to McCain or the Republicans to tell us why McCain would make a good president. For the record, I am still a registered Republican in San Luis Obispo County here in California. When I first registered to vote upon turning 18, I was a committed Reagan Republican. So, don't tell me that I am some know-nothing Leftist/Liberal/Socialist/Democrat/whatever.

So, back to the original question: What qualification does John McCain have that would make him a good president? What has he genuinely committed to doing once he gets into office that would restore our Constitution and liberties?

It is only I eggsovresy that calls you all that stuff. And that is because I am an uneducated man who reverts to physical when one can not be persuaded by words. Would you believe I am old now and have mellowed with time? lol

I am not saying I am dumb by any means. I just thought I would be a professional athlete so who needs school.

Now I would say I have the advantage because I see from the working mans side who went to the school of hard knocks and came out a smarter and stronger man for it.

That being said some of the reasons I will vote for McCain are because of what McCain himself is FOR. LIKE...

Super fuel efficient vehicles, and drilling for oil in strategic areas but still leaving it ultimately to the states them selves that it will impact. He understands the sovereignty of the states.

Alternative energies such as wind and coal. We can turn coal into liquid fuel now and it burns cleaner and more efficiently than oil. Wind power is becoming a good answer but not a total solution. McCain knows this.

There are problems with wind like where the big windmills are no wild life or birds will live. They leave.

Natural gas used to power our vehicles...He is pro military, He is a Christian that understands the principles of impersonal love, and Gods peace, He doesn't have to preach it.

He lives it quietly showing himself a workman like the ant. Knowing a Christian changes from the inside out not the outside in. So he doesn't have to claim his faith before he denies his pastor.

Yea Jdub there are alot of reasons. He understands the principles of Peace through Positions of Strength. That is also Biblical.

There is a lot about this man that is awesome.

He has wisdom and experience in the world affairs, is steadfast in his decisions. And ultimately I believe he will listen and direct our elected representatives to start working like a Republic again.

Because I will be involved in that movement when I Begin it. You Jdub and Publius are invited to help with that goal of mine after the elections.

Just a quick overview, and rest assured I will xombyte many times "Why I will Vote for a man Like McCain" with thought before this election takes place.

Thank you for your response, eggs. Yours is the first response that I've seen in a sea of Obama-bashing articles that is pro-McCain. I am still not voting for a president, but your words do give me something to consider.

Of course they do; He is a White male, the son of an Admiral and a former P.O.W., a member of Congress for nearly a quarter century, he has experience, he was right about the "Surge"??, he's a Maverick in the Senate, he is NOT Barack Obama, and John McCain is not a Mormon.
