Some events have happened in my life for which I don't have a logical explanation. And some happenings have seemed coincidental, or just creepy.

A few years ago I was driving on the interstate like any other day and my left rear tire blew out. Luckily I was able to veer to the right and pull over on the shoulder. I carefully exited my vehicle to inspect the damage.

I would say in about 2 minutes a man pulled behind my vehicle and offered to help. I told him about my terrifying experience and he immediately began to change the tire. This man had a "rough" hobo type look about him, but I was so desperate for help I did not pay close attention to any 'warning signs.' However, I had a little 'queasy' feeling that kept nagging at me, so as a defense mechanism I kept talking to him while watching his body language and kept a distance from him in case I needed to run. Since I'm an experienced jogger/runner I felt confident that I could get a head start, and the ramp to the nearest gas station looked to be about a quarter mile away.

Everything seemed to be going just fine while he was beginning the process of changing the tire. Then, about midway through his tire changing, a Georgia State Patrol vehicle pulled up behind 'my helper's' car. The tall and gallant State Trooper walked out of his vehicle, said hello to both of us, observed the man changing my tire, and asked me what happened. After finding out the events he walked over close to the man helping me and talked with him the whole time 'the man' was changing the tire. I pretty much stood there and silently felt relieved. The State Trooper did not leave until 'the man' was finished. Once 'the man' was finished the State Trooper said good-bye and drove off. I said to 'the man,' "Thank you very much," and handed him $5 for his trouble. That's all the cash I had at the time. He took the money, smiled, walked to his car, and drove away.

Sometimes I think about that day. Were my instincts correct that day? Was it just coincidence that the State Trooper came at the time he did? This was in the early 1990s. Maybe someone driving by observed us and phoned in the Georgia State Patrol? Are there Angels in America? I have believed in angels since I was a child. I guess it has something to do with my Christian indoctrination. I don't know. But, I tend to believe in Angels. I just don't always listen to them.
