Do You Feel Guilty at Having Circumcised Your Male Child?

Just wondering if any parents out here feel guilty in retrospect at having had their sons circ'd (circumcised). I've had friends describe the experience of watching their sons being circumcised as being one of the most traumatic experiences they've gone through.

I know some cultures require circumcision to be done for religious/cultural reasons, but I know of a lot of parents who get their sons circ'd for no good reason. A lot of these parents fear their sons would get teased by their peers, they wouldn't get dates, etc.

Its also interesting that while there is outrage at female circumcisions, there's hardly any such outrage towards male circumcision. The reason put forth being that male circumcision doesn't affect males in "any significant manner."

However, ethically it does seem wrong - doesn't it? Its an irreversible procedure and what if the individual wanted it back? Does anyone identify with that feeling? Shouldn't consent matter for this procedure?

It just seems wrong that male and female circumcisions are treated differently.

All I can say is,

biologically, it's there for a reason.
