A man went into the hospital, complaining of stomach pain. Doctors were astonished to find that the man had swallowed a number of strange, sharp metal objects. It was deemed a surgical emergency; 17 unusual items were removed successfully.

What was this guy thinking?!

Not enough iron in his diet?

I don't know what the guy was thinking (if he was at all), but it is not uncommon for some people to swallow weird objects compulsively. There is a known psychological disorder, in other words.

Perhaps this will be the rebirth of the 2Girls1Cup phenomena known as 1Guy1Toolbox.

Well, there's enough iron now! ;)

I know there's a psychological disorder, and I'd say he most likely suffers from it. Still, I have to wonder how it was even possible to successfully ingest barbed wire, let alone all these various objects and suffer few ill effects. Disorder or not, I can't imagine have the physical ability to down a knife.

I know there are sword swallowers, and they open their throats to allow the passage of the blade, but surely barbed wire would cause bleeding?

I don't know, I guess it just seems to me that even if you're prone to swallowing strange objects, you'd want to steer clear of the ones that are all kinds of pointy. But, then, since I don't personally suffer from such a disorder, it would be next to impossible for me to accurately wrap my mind around the inner thought process of someone who's brain is wired entirely different from myself. And, I know that, so I should be more sympathetic to his plight.
