A tourist in Australia managed to ingest a rather large amount of ethylene glycol, which is often life-threatening. Upon being admitted to an Australian hospital, the (now unconscious) man was treated with pharmaceutical grade alcohol, which is the norm and is known to act as an antidote. Their supply, however, was severely depleted. So, they bought a case of vodka, figuring it was the next best way to get the alcohol into the mans system.

The man has made a full recovery.
