Does Annie Lennox have AIDS?

There is much speculation going around about Annie Lennox and the AIDS virus. She has spoken out about many problems in our world today. Her latest issues include but are not limited to the war in Iraq, the Aids epidemic world wide, womens rights, and other political and economic issues in todays society. In a recent interview with NYC's HX magazine she says "I've been through pretty much everything. Let me put it to you like that. But having said that, I have to say that the songs are non-specific … just like STDs." One of her tracks on her new album, entitled “Sing,” was originally inspired by a CD from an AIDS activist group called The Generics. Lennox asked 23 fellow divas, including Madonna, Celine Dion, kd lang, Beth Orton, Pink, Isobel Campbell and Melissa Etheridge, to contribute vocals to the song. “The theme is calling for the national implementation of a program to prevent mother-to-baby HIV transmission,” says Lennox in the press notes that accompany her promo CD. In another interview she was asked what was the closest AIDS has ever touched her in her life. "You just have to step into any hospital, hospice, orphanage, rape crisis center, township…the extent of the pandemic is astronomical. People in wealthy Western countries really have no idea. The statistics are off the scale, and for every statistic, there is a child, a mother, a father, a brother or sister." So to all those out there wondering is Annie really has AIDS- the answer is no, she just really cares a lot for the issue.
