Does Anyone Actually Make Money?

Does Anyone Actually Make Money?

points

I love to write. I always have. Sometimes I just wish more people would be able to take a look at my writing. Which is why I eventually found this website. I was just curious to anyone that would care to share any stories with me, if making money on this site is even possible...other than a few cents here and there? Most places like this are simply pyramid schemes that in the end waste your time.

I have a full time job, I really am not wanting for anything so I have no need to make boatloads of money from a website. A couple extra dollars would be nice but I'm sure anyone would say that. I'm just like everyone else with rent and bills to pay, but really when it comes down to it, writing is really what counts for me.

Any comments or messages would be appreciated, I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks!

Depends

On a lot of factors but here are some of the top ones:

Depends on what you write. You are not going to make much off of fiction unless you are extremely lucky. Last month I made just over $10 here and this month I'm around $5. The people who do non-fiction (recipes, how tos, links to other sites with a review, etc)can do quite well. I think DeDom has quoted himself making around $1800 to $2000 a month but he puts in about 5 hours a day and posts like crazy. Look at some of the old webinars, the faqs and the getting started here. The potential is here - I would guess from what I have seen the dedicated people here make around $50 to $100 a month here.

Depends on how seriously you take it. Tracking google trends. Staying on top of the lastest things. Creating links to your pages, etc.

Money can definitely be made here and it is no pyramid scheme - the more you write, the more you will get paid, usually. But you probably will not be able to make a living posting here.

I myself write mainly for myself so that is kinda why I don't do as well as some others.

Hope that helps!

The Secret to the Secret to Making Money on Xomba: You Just ...

... Do.

Just Go. And Just Do.

If I were to tell you what news to write your personality's 'spin' into, then that would put too much thought into going-and-doing.

And too much thought means you "must" be planning something 'evil!' lol

See, the entire Internet (despite what a famous Sesame Street song will tell you) is just another way of transporting sensory information; "money" comes in as a result of some of that sensory information getting transported (whether we want it or not) along with the information we're transporting anyway.

The geniuses at Google AdSense have devised a system by which the ads give readers the kinds of opportunities we writers WANT THEM TO HAVE--selling the spider-deduced keywords that the advertisers buy.

So in short, you make money by 1) getting lots of readers (through writing about what they want and by distributing links-to-your-Xomba all over the web) and 2) explaining how 'what your readers want' is ALSO 'what advertisers are giving'!

It depends on what you mean by money...

If you are looking to spread your wings as a writer and experiment with different writing styles and formats while having everything connected to Google AdSense, then, yes, you can make money depending on what you are writing and the demand from the search-engine-using public. If you are looking to make hundreds and thousands of dollars each month right out of the gate, then you may be disappointed.

I have been here around 18 months and have met my Google AdSense minimum of $100 (in order for them to pay out) exactly three times, most recently this month. Then, again, I have not posted as consistently as I believe I need to post in order to get clicks. For instance, while I was all over the 2008 presidential campaign, I practically ignored the Beijing Olympics, which I probably did to my own detriment.

The key is consistency, regardless of what and how you write. If you are planning on making any real money, then you need to be putting up at least two (if not more) well-written, search-engine-optimized Xombytes (original articles) every day. If you do two a day over the course of a year, you will have written 730 articles at the end of the year. If you set the goal of making just a single dollar on each, that's $730.00 in one year.

If you want to hit your AdSense minimum of $100.00 each month, you need to average $3.33 every day of the month. I've had some days go $6.00 and I've had days where I made nothing, but the average is where you want to focus.

It sounds like you are pretty realistic about your expectations for writing. For as long as I've been here on Xomba, my advice to you can be broken down into two words: quality and consistency.

Good luck!

Have fun writing and make money

I too enjoy to write. Making money writing articles is possible and I have started to profit from doing so. You can write articles on Xomba and earn adsense revenue share. You can also submit your articles to eHow and associated content and make money there too.

Recently I joined Bukisa and am making money daily with my submitted articles. There they pay you money on the number of views your content get. You can submit articles, videos, mp3 and even presentations and earn on every pageview your content get. I think that is pretty cool and easier for me to make money.

Pyramid Scheme

Xomba is nothing like a pyramid scheme.

You can read about what a pyramid scheme is by clicking here.

Xomba only makes money if its users make money, since we only get half the Adsense that you make.

@X.A--So It's More Like a 'Pizza-Hut Scheme' ...

... the 'power-core of the system' is not "how many sellers you can dupe into working beneath you," but rather is "how many readers (curious-about-the-people-worthy-of-Google's-friendship) that each Xombie informs with`r well-connected knowledge!"

Sure, many people try to attach other advertising to the system (freebrandrewards, MyLot, Triond, etc.)--sometimes with the power of other Xombies behind them, sometimes without--but the Gold-Diggers' Rule remains ... no, not "She gives me mo-ney When I'm in Need ..." but, "Give the people what they want."
