Is Cuil Cool Enough?

If you steer your web browser over to Cuil.com you find a really cool looking black and blue screen where you can enter your search.
Cuil touts a web search that will span over 121 billion web pages, but is it's search better?
I test drove Cuil and Google for a little while. My first search was for "Dave: A profile from Obscurity". The exact title of one of my well received articles here on Xomba.
When searching for it by title it was in the #1 spot on Google's results. However Cuil failed to even find my article. Although it did find some Xomba related articles and showed my title in the search results, no links to my actual article were shown. Cool claimed to have 44 results for my search, but only displayed a handful.
So far I don't like the way Cuil displays search results.
Well, maybe Xomba hasn't promoted our articles beyond Google, so I will try another type of search.
Searching for Active Rain, the biggest online real estate network resulted equally for both Google and Cuil.
My last search for "Plaster Casting" turns up with mostly results for buying kits in Cuil. However The number one spot returned on Google was exactly what I was searching for. Information on how to do plaster casting from one of the most authoritative sites on the internet.
In my opinion, Cuil may be fun to look at, and cool by its image and name, but the coolest would still be Google in my book. I want clear and relevant search results that I can easily navigate.
Cuil's results are no concise and harder to navigate, rather than return a list, one has to deal with columns of information and paragraphs rather than just a few lines. The visual presentation is a turn off.
If Cuil is going to "take the internet by storm" they are going to have to turn up the quality and worry a little less about the quantity...or, like most other novelties, prepare to be tossed to the wayside.
This is one internet writers opinion.
Hope you find this opinion piece helpful.
