Does the Earlier Christmas Shopping Season Cause Holiday Burnout?

The Christmas shopping season started earlier this year, with many retailers declaring that the holiday shopping season started in early October (if not before). Before Halloween this year, merchants were hauling out huge holiday displays, playing holiday music and saying Merry Christmas at every opportunity, all in an effort to help boost holiday sales.
