Don't Look Now But I Think We Are In Real Trouble

I knew we were getting more clueless by the day but we may be in more trouble than I ever thought. Today I happened to be sitting in a doctor’s office where they had a television blaring away for our amusement. They happened to be discussing a new website which is about to be launched named, “Showme.com”. It will be a series of recorded demonstrations which will instruct us how to do many amazing things such as how to brew a cup of tea and how to tie your shoes.
To say I was personally insulted by the idea of me or anyone else requiring instruction on ultra-ordinary tasks outraged me. I began to mumble to myself, “I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it.” When others in the waiting rooms chimed in with their own commentaries which agreed with mine. I added, “What next? Will they have to remind us it’s time to breathe?”
I predict that this will become an instant hit. Given the level of what passes for entertainment these days, perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised that people can’t engineer a trip to the bathroom without help and maybe this will be one of the options for Showme.com. Maybe we can even project out into the future a decade or so to a second generation of this format in which it will show us how to turn on a faucet and how to put on your socks. Better yet, why bother wearing anything at all? And why not just go out into the woods and duck your face into a lake? I don’t know people, we are in real trouble.

Round and round...

LadyPeninhand "And the seasons they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and down We're captive on the carousel of time We can't return we can only look Behind from where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game.." (Joni Mitchell - yes, again - The Circle Game) Perhaps we'll come 'full-circle'....someday.
