The Doolittle Raid, first US Airstrike of Japan in WWII

The Doolittle Raid was the first American air strike to occur as the United States entered World War II. This military maneuver was in direct response to the attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii and took place on April 18, 1942. Although the American people had been unwilling to enter the war following World War II and economic problems, the Pearl Harbor gave the country little choice but to enter the global conflict.
