Doomsday Vault Safeguards Seeds in Case of Disaster
On a remote island between Norway and the North Pole, a kind of bunker has been created to store samples for more than 4,000 seeds... an insurance policy in case a disaster wipes out plant life on earth.
The Doomsday Vault, as it is called, preserves and protects the seeds in case some of the world's 1,400 existing genebanks are destroyed.
"60 Minutes" did a story on the Doomsday Vault on March 23rd.
