Doritos Prices Rising Faster than Gasoline
posted April 13, 2007 - 7:02amDoritos Crisis! That essential major food group for Americans has experieced major price increases over the last several weeks.
Usually, Doritos are two 13 oz. bags for $3.49. Two weeks ago they were two for four dollars. Last night I went to the store and they were two for $6.00!<

Not one of the presidential candidates is talking about this.
Gasoline prices have increased only 30 cents a gallon over the same time period, a relative bargain. Do we see a trend developing here?
Doritos and gasoline are related in that Doritos are made from corn, and corn is now being used to make ethanol, which is added to gasoline as a fuel additive. The increase in ethanol useage is causing the price of corn to rise and the increase in Doritos prices.
The once golden state of California used 15.8 billion gallons of gasoline in 2006. (The United States uses 327.8 million gallons of gsoline a day.) Out of the state's, governed by Arnold S+13 (who is publicizing himself as the "Green Governor") 33.9 million cars and trucks, 135,425 are hybrids.
So while we are looking for something to replace doritos with in our essential daily , the other food groups the other two are doughnuts and pizza, is there something we can do to keep those dollars from running down the filler pipes of the cars and trucks that we use to get to school and to work everyday? I have been working on expanding the playlist for radio station WYNYC and it is a lot work. First you have to locate the artists and listen to their singing.
Then I'm looking for original material, not cover versions of what has already been recorded by established artists.
The third thing I have to do is listen to the lyrics several times to find those songs that express the feelings of the artists in new ways.
Love found and love lost have been sung about in hundreds-of-thousands of songs, so you can see why not everybody can come up with a new take on the old flames-in-circle song.
