There are several different methods that you can use to get your hands on some MP3 Music Files:
Some people assume that MP3’s in general are illegal actually this is not the case. It is perfectly legal to share MP3 Files that are not Copyrighted. It is illegal to share Music that is Copyrighted, for example any of the Music in the charts at the moment.

Another place to look is on Blogs many Bands want to make it big, and so will release Free Content on their Blogs in order to do so.
What you can’t do is Download Copyrighted Music without permission, this is known as Music Piracy. The Music Industry claims that it is loosing millions of dollars every year due to Illegal Downloads recently this has had a lot of coverage.
Metallica was the first group to moan about illegal Downloads. The thing is that the Music Industry isn’t necessarily loosing millions of dollars every year, not all of the people that Downloaded would have become paying customers if they couldn’t Download.
Free MP3 Music Downloads are great for new Artists and Groups who are relatively unknown. File sharing has actually made some Groups very big, and many Artists do not mind providing their Music for Free.
Look on some of the big Artist’s Websites, you will no doubt find some links to some Free Content. Artists don’t mind giving you a glimpse at their work in the hope that you’ll buy the complete Album.
If you want to Download mainstream Music then you have a couple of options, you can either buy the CD, or you can pay to Download the MP3’s.
If you buy the CD then you will have every track, you can then use your computer to convert this into MP3 format. It’s extremely easy, and you can use Windows Media Player to do it. It’s currently considered ok to Rip CD’s that you own to MP3 and put them onto your MP3 player, however if you share these Files you could get in a lot of trouble.
Paying to Download the MP3’s has some huge advantages, firstly you don’t have to pay for the whole CD, many (if not all) of the Music Download Sites will sell individual tracks.
This is great for Artists who just have one hit and the rest of the album is useless! You just buy what you want. You can load these MP3’s directly onto your MP3 player, or you can use Windows Media Player to make a Music CD to play on your home Hi-Fi. You can even make your own Music Compilations!
When you’re choosing a Site to pay to Download Music from make sure you stick to the big Names, you don’t want to pay only to have Pirated Music. There are a number of Websites that charge for Downloads, but the Record Companies or Artists never see any of this money. If you’re going to pay, make sure you do it right!
Many people still Download Pirated Music, although this is still possible if you get caught you can be in very deep trouble! Everybody is cracking down on the illegal Music Downloads, why risk it ? The individual Music Tracks are very cheap it’s really not worth the Risk.
