Downloading Music on the Internet
posted January 13, 2008 - 11:25amSo, you want to download music online? You have millions of options at your fingertips. And that is part of the problem. How do you know which websites have hidden charges, which ones will sneakily charge your credit card, which have hidden per-song download fees, which are really 100% free (and is there such a thing)? Here are a few tips and ideas for working out which music downloading websites really do all they promise.
Let's start with the obvious one. www.itunes.com has a 70c per song download fee, $15 per album download fee, but does not require signing up payment. It's easy to use, the songs are automatically uploaded into your iTunes library, so you must make sure you have downloaded iTunes. It is the only known website that it 100% legal, and is the most trusted music downloading source. But if you still aren't into the idea of payaing for songs, here are some other sites.
Now let us look at www.ez-tracks.com and all it offers. Yes, it is free. But what it doesn't mention is that none of the songs are by the original artists. Some of them are fairly good immitations, but you have much better options. Also, they will proabably only have about one in ten songs that you are looking for.
By far the best website for free music is www.limewire.com, where you click the link that downloads the software. It saves it to your desktop and you can search for and download music anytime you are connected to the internet. I have never searched for a song that I haven't found yet. The library is unbelievably extensive, and you can also find pictures, vidoes and more. It is the only music download source you need, so ignore the others out there that claim to be free, because this is the only one that truly is!
