Dreah Writes for a Living: Experiment Backlash
posted March 20, 2007 - 7:49amI started this post as a comment to Lady P's remarks on my previous post:

But then it got too long to waste! So here is my post for today.
I'm not really worried about what anyone thinks. Frankly I am a good writer and currently work for other websites, i.e. draw a salary. That is how you eat and pay your bills.
I am also an artist, and the response toward my 'EXPERIMENT' is similar to how the public views artists... work hard now, and you might get paid later.
I have been on the INTERNET long enough to know that all promises are not kept, even with the best of intentions. (anybody remember Themestream)... Xomba is very much like them except for the GENIUS of taking themselves out of the role of paying. They have left PROBLEM that to adsense.
Yes, I wrote a positive article about AC, and also said positive things about Xomba. They both are trying hard to create good environments where writers can thrive.
As a writer who has to eat today and save for tomorrow, I am going to seek out and even try out any venue that can get me there.
Like I said, I fully expect Xomba to win, granted they pull in the traffic. You can have all the best terms in the world, but if no one reads it, what are you getting 50% of? That is one of my Xomba concerns. (Xomba wants us to promote too) There are other concerns as well.
Still at the end of the day, I see huge potential in Xomba, but if writers don't want me writing about it... well, too bad, at least until Xomba tells me to Go Away... then I will. But it certainly won't be my loss alone.
