Dreah Writes for a Living: The AC/ Xomba Experiment is Defunct

Ok, so I started this experiment with the best of intentions some time back. I suspected that Xomba would blow Associated Content out of the water, and just wanted to write about it and see how long it would take.

The question was, which site would you make more money on. Upfront, Associated Content won hands down. In theory it was just a matter of time before Xomba Kicked butt based on the 50-50 share.

You can read the response to my second post in this series where my intentions were questioned, and I was otherwise slammed.

http://www.xomba.com/dreah_writes_for_a_living_the_ac_xomba_experiment_continues

But I kept writing.

I was making a wage equal to that of a really good part time job on Associated Content, and on Xomba I was making making beans for my work, but still it was obvious that it was just a matter of time before Xomba caught up. Then something strange happened. Xomba income stopped dead. I didn't freak, I emailed someone at Xomba who said Adsense was essentially monitoring Xomba as things were going too well. It took about a month before Xomba earnings started showing up again, but for me, by this time, it was too late.

I was knee deep in making money on Associated Content, while the promise of the future money I could make on Xomba sounds good, the money in my pocket felt better.

Still, in the back of my mind, I knew what I knew. There was value in Xomba, I just had to find the time and motivation to spend more time here on Xomba.

I think the Xombyte "User makes over $1,000 in July on Xomba" was the impetus I needed. Spend an hour or two a day on Xomba, make a grand... that sounds like good odds.

So with that said, I am ending the experiment because I really can't compare apples to applesauce. One pays now, and takes a bigger cut, one pays later and gives more. That's just that.

The key is to find the balance. So here is what you can expect from me. I will most likely post tons of xomblurbs giving teasers of my Associated Content articles
for the interested to go ahead and click through to read. Also I will try to write a longer xombyte a few times a week... like this one here.

Take Care, and happy reading.

Thinking Out Loud Here

Maybe money flows from the AC-fountain; but in twenty-to-fourty years, the world will have changed so that you'll either have to totally erase many of your articles there or be disregarded as an old-and-useless (practically-dead) fuddy-duddy. Whereas here on Xomba, you can change each and every article as the perceived-truth changes. This means you'll keep the kernel of wisdom you began with and be able to refine it and reattract visitors to it on Xomba, and you can do hours-and-hours of work on each article five-or-ten minutes at a time; instead of laboriously sweating over an article that–when it's finally "good enough" to submit to AC–only might be accepted for publication, and is then unchangible. AC VS XOMBA update

My AC income still laps my xomba income... by miles.. click bank based on my use of it with other sites is a waste of time. and I agree with what the last commenter said about the $1000 maker writing questionable material.. not willing to do that. but I am still here, and comparing diligently. ~While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about~

I Come to This World Not to Re-Create It, But to Enjoy ...

... whatever has been created and building up the power to create additions to it! Like dreah, I also write on AC, but unlike dreah, I'm not 'independent' enough to have a PayPal account. And I'm too slow/impatient to make money on Xomba without encouraging people to break the law (like the '$1000 Dollar' maker did). But I think I might have a check on the way soon, and 'Look Mother, I make all things new again.' Whatever. What do You Think? Join Xomba to Tell Us! (if you think you're smart enough)

work

I think 3 months and about an hour a day for 5 days a week, but don't quote me on that. Either way it just takes time to build up your portfolio. We're still growing so I don't have anything to promise. The numbers look better every month because we grow more. The problem we had a few months ago was because of our Google Indexing not Adsense. You may find in a few months that your old articles will start on some money again. Time will tell. And results will vary for everyone. I can only see what we make and know that half of it goes to you guys. :)

hmm

So how much time did the $1000.00 person put into Xomba??? ~While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about~

look into clickbank

I have no problem if you use clickbank or other affliates on Xomba as long as the content is not just for affiliate advertising. Work it into your article or blurb. I just talked to a user who made 30 bucks on his first clickbank sale yesterday. He just started clickbank oh about several days ago.

are you saying...

are you saying that we can use affiliates on Xomba, or are you suggesting that for our own websites and blogs... I have had no luck with linkshare, I may look into clickbank ~While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about~

click bank

Using www.ClickBank.com to sell affliated products is another good way to make money. Especially since you get to keep 100%.

I don't disagree

That is why I plan to write a few articles each week specifically for Xomba, plus anything AC rejects or gives an insulting offer on will also go here, after editing. (but that hasn't happened in a while) I will look at the scrap metal article! ~While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about~

I still say longer well written articles pay more

in most cases that is.... Check this out www.xomba.com/how_to_make_money_recycling_scrap_metal I began tracking the Scrap metal article in Adsense on December 9th 2006 Since then it has earned me $148.00 That's just me. Now keep in mind the user didn't immediately put his adsense account in. BUT... So far this month it has earned just me over $11 with a $1 a day average. Last month it earned just me: $17 And it was posted I think in August or September last year. I don't know this user and all clicks are legit.
