Dreams! the key to God communicating with us

And it shall come to pass that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see visions (Joel 2:28).
This event took place on the day of pentecost in Acts 2:4. Jesus told his Disciples to go to the upper room and wait until they were endued with power from on high. When pentecost had fully come suddenly there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire and it sat upon each of them and they were all (120) filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. This speaking in tongues is not something to fear or shy away from because the text says that every man heard them speak in their own language. If they heard them speak in their own language then why is it so controversial in some circles? It's like calling the different languages in the world today" taboo" when in fact its life. The people of that era made fun of those who were speaking in tongues by saying these men are drunk with wine! Peter stood up boldly with the Spirit energizing him after denying Jesus earlier without the power of the Holy Spirit . He quotes Joel 2:28 by saying these men are not drunk as you suppose seeing it is but the third hour of the day, but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel, and it shall come to pass in the last days saith God , I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams. We are still living in the last days that Peter was talking about and God is still talking through those who will listen in dreams and visions today.
Why does God speak in dreams?
Most people are very busy during waking hours until bed time and do not take the time to just sit and meditate in Gods word and wait on the Lord in prayer. Communication involves both listening and speaking, but because of hurrying during the day many just pray and continue on without listening to what God has to say. When a person goes to bed they are relaxed and are in the perfect condition to hear from God. The sad thing is that people who do not take the time to listen to their dreams, miss out on the opportunity to hear from God. They dismiss their dreams as the result of the pizza they had the night before. Sometimes it is, and every dream does not mean one is hearing from God. But the fact remains that God according to his word still speaks to us through dreams today.
A family is kept together through a God dream:
Matthew chapter one and chapter two give the account of Mary who had become pregnant by the word and the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit. Joseph was not buying it and he decided to put Mary away privately because she was pregnant and he was not the father. Even though Joseph was hurting, he still had character because he could have put Mary away publically and she could have been stoned according to the law. Many times it is when a person is hurting physically or emotionally it is tempting to strike back, but it is during these times that one must forgive if God is going to get involved. If we don't forgive neither will our heavenly Father forgive us our trespasses. Josephs mind is consumed with the thoughts of his betrothed wife and according to him her unfaithfulness. While Joseph is sleeping the bible says the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream and says Joseph fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost, and she shall bring forth her son and thou shall call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins. After this God dream Joseph and Mary remain together as Mother and stepfather for Jesus. God can speak in dreams today and keep homes together, give direction, and a host of other things.
My experience:
I was a volunteer at my job for awhile to see if I would like to make a career out of it. After some time I wanted to stay and there was a position opening. Usually months and even years would pass by before hirings took place. I was told that I was not going to get the position, but not given a reason why. My heart was hurt and heavy that day as I went home and told my mother what had happened. With tears in my eyes my mom came and talked with me and prayed with me. Some time went by and the Lord gave me a dream. You may be wondering how I knew it was the Lord and not a burger, but He has dealt with me in dreams since I was around 5 years old. To make a long story short I would predict things that he would show me and they would actually happen. Remember this is something that every born again believer can experience in their own life because God is no respecter of persons. In the dream I was given direction to go and talk with an official whom I had never met. I looked for the person that was similar to the way he looked in my dream. I talked with this person and he said that he would see what he could do. The next day I was hired, but thats not all, the person who said I "would not" get the position saw me and said...GOD must have wanted you to have the position! This is my true experience, but the reason that I've shared it is to let people know that God is real and he speaks through the bible, through men and women, but he also speaks through dreams.
