DRINKING TOO MUCH WATER?
Is it possible to drink too much water? We are told to drink plenty of water but when is it too much? Drinking too much water is possible and can cause a condition known as water intoxication. Another related condition that is caused by drinking too much water is hyponatremia which is the dissolution of sodium in the body. You can find more about these conditions on the web. These conditions can also be caused by drinking too much liquid at once without the proper amount of electrolytes. So how much do we need? Well the average adult needs about 3 quarts of fluid each day and a lot of that comes from food. It is recommended that we drink 8-12 oz of water a day. But remember that everyone is different and will need a different amount such as with children, babies, and people with medical issues or special needs. If you have questions on how much you need consult a doctor as this is only an average.
