Droid Phone Reviews- Motorola Launches Droid Phone, Considered To Be Their Best.
posted November 7, 2009 - 6:33pmDroid phone reviews should be of importance, as the Droid phone was released yesterday. Reviews are pouring in for the Droid phone, which is made by Motorola and is Verizon’s smartphone based on Google Android operating system. As consumers are fickle, is Motorola’s Droid phone nothing more than
the sexy phone-du-jour, only to be cast aside in a couple of months, or will the Droid become a timeless classic, like Apple’s iPhone?
If I had to say one word in my review of Verizon’s new phone that uses the Google Android operating system, I would term it – Incredible. The technology present in this phone is enough for me to at least consider moving to Verizon‘s services.
The thing that makes the Droid better than the iPhone in my eyes is that it is capable of supporting corporate email. While the Apple has the same capabilities, it was very hard for my company’s IT department to get Apple’s features running for my bosses’ iPhone.
If you love applications and watching YouTube videos, I believe you will pleased to know that Verizon’s Google phone, the Droid, has over 12,000 applications available and is fully integrated with most Google technology, including Gmail. You can run more than one application at a time (not possible on the iPhone) and the Droid also features a physical keyboard (also not available on the iPhone).
The price is $199 and I think it’s worth it, considering the content embedded in it (coupled with a two-year contract). Maybe that’s not saying a whole lot. The Droid’s only competitors in the U.S. are T-Mobile’s 1-year-old G1, its chubby younger brother the MyTouch 3G and HTC’s Droid Eris, a $99 Verizon Wireless phone that comes out Friday — the same day as the Motorola Droid — with an already-outdated Android operating system.
The incredible droid phone has the following features:
Internals
Inside the DROID beats an Arm Cortex A8 CPU (a 600MHz, OMAP3430 chip downclocked to 550MHz), 256MB of RAM, and 512MB of ROM.
Display
The screen on the DROID is a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen -- a full glass display with a WVGA resolution clocking in at a handsome 480 x 854.
Note: Android 2.0 does support multitouch events, but the functionality isn't implemented here.
Keyboard
Droid has an incredible onscreen keyboard as well, as a backup keyboard for quick SMSs
Camera
Motorola has smartly outfitted the DROID with a 5 megapixel camera coupled with an LED flash. The DROID is capable of shooting at a 720 x 480 resolution as well.
And so many other features that are so comforting.
Well, If asked, I must say Droid is a good smartphone indeed with many features a user of our time would expect. I believe many of the world users of iPhone and other sophisticated phone will switch over to this incredible product from Motorola.
Good for Motorola…
