Dusty Baker Hired as Cincinnati Reds Manager
posted October 14, 2007 - 1:00amIt's been reported that the Cincinnati Reds have hired Dusty Baker to be their new manager.
The 58-year-old Baker, who will be the first black manager in Reds' history, reached an agreement on a three-year contract, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported late Saturday night. The newspaper's Web site said the signing of Dusty Baker will be announced on Monday.
Baker will be managing his third major-league team. His last managerial stint was with the Chicago Cubs, which came very close to making it to the World Series in 2003. But the club lost the National League Championship Series in seven games to the Florida Marlins, who went on to win the World Series.
Before the Cubs, Dusty Baker spent 10 seasons managing the San Francisco Giants, who were regular playoff contenders in his years there.
