Eagles Beat Vikings 26-14 in NFC Wild Card Game
posted January 4, 2009 - 7:56pmThe Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Minnesota Vikings 26-14 in the NFC Wild Card game Sunday. The Eagles will play the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants next week.
The Eagles had a slim 16-14 lead two-third of the way through the fourth quarter when Donovan McNabb completed a short pass to Brian Westbrook, who ran the ball in for a 71-yard touchdown play. Before that play, the Vikings had done a good job of keeping Westbrook in check.
Asante Samuel intercepted Viking quarterback Tarvaris Jackson in the second quarter and ran it in for a touchdown, putting the Eagles up 16-7. Less than five minutes later, Adrian Peterson scored a touchdown for the Vikings with a three-yard run.
David Akers kicked four field goals for Philadelphia.
Donovan McNabb completed 23 of 34 pass attempts. Tarvaris Jackson of the Vikings had a much less effective day, completing just 15 of 35 pass attempts.
