Eagles Beat Vikings 26-14 in NFC Wild Card Game

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Minnesota Vikings 26-14 in the NFC Wild Card game Sunday. The Eagles will play the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants next week.

The Eagles had a slim 16-14 lead two-third of the way through the fourth quarter when Donovan McNabb completed a short pass to Brian Westbrook, who ran the ball in for a 71-yard touchdown play. Before that play, the Vikings had done a good job of keeping Westbrook in check.

Asante Samuel intercepted Viking quarterback Tarvaris Jackson in the second quarter and ran it in for a touchdown, putting the Eagles up 16-7. Less than five minutes later, Adrian Peterson scored a touchdown for the Vikings with a three-yard run.

David Akers kicked four field goals for Philadelphia.

Donovan McNabb completed 23 of 34 pass attempts. Tarvaris Jackson of the Vikings had a much less effective day, completing just 15 of 35 pass attempts.

New York sports

Yeah, usually one team can at least make the playoffs. Though both basketball teams stink so far this season. With three hockey teams, one or two will generally make the postseason. Lots of college sports in the area, too (as in Philly)... and a lot cheaper than the pros!

NY/NJ area good place to live

for the avid sports fan. The Yin and the Yang so to speak. If the Jets don't get in the Giants might make it. If the Yankees don't make their often anual appearance in October it could be the Mets. The best of both Worlds in both Conferances and Leages.

Philadelphia Eagles

I was pulling for the Eagles in the Super Bowl a few years back, and was glad to see them win yesterday. (I have a number of friends from the Philly/Central Jersey area.) As a NJ/NY area guy, I'm hoping for a Giants win this week.

I'm waiting for the Iggles to win the big one

A week removed from my Cowboys' loss last weekend, a lot of the sting is gone from our season being over. As much as it would have pained me to say it even a few days ago, I'm pulling for Philly in the playoffs. After all, the Iggles are the only team in the division without a ring... Great article

The deffense is peeking at the right time for the Eagles this year as noted in the Philadelphia Daily News this past friday. It's the best statistically in Jim Johnson's tenure with the Eagles in the top 5 categories on defense. Brian Dawkins is playing light's out football and they are better against the run with thier linebackers. Philly Fan for life Go Eagles.

I'm always more hopeful..

I'm always more hopeful when they have a so-so season and then come on strong..After stomping Dallas last week and now the Vikes, they might just have some momentum going. They've got the talent as long as they stay consistent.

Eagles beat Vikes

It was a good win ... Westbrook and McNabb made the key plays when they had to. They've had an up and down season, but seem to be peaking at the right time.

Go Eagles!

GO EAGLES!! Way to go Brian Westbrook #36! Great run!
