EarlyTax Stimulus Refund begins Apr. 28. What happened to my early refund?

On Thursday, April 24, the Dept. of the Treasury announced they were ahead of schedule, and would begin issuing direct-deposit Tax Stimulus Checks on Monday, April 28. This new date was five days ahead of the original start-date of May 2. Paper checks are to follow beginning on May 9, instead of the original May 16th date.

With this announcement came the next question; how much faster will I receive my Tax Stimulus check? One, would assume a five-day rollback, meaning, if your check was originally set for a May 2, or May 9, or, any of the designated issue dates, you would subtract five days from the original date. In the case of May 2, or May 9 (used as an example), the new arrival dates would be April 28, and
May 5.

Many people did receive direct-deposit electronic refunds on April 28, and continue to do so.

Now, it just would seem logical that if refunds began on April 28, five days early, your refund should arrive, ready-to-spend, five days early. However, “to assume” anything when it comes to your money and the Federal Government, is just plain foolish. Unfortunately, for most people, myself included, assumption overpowers reality when it comes to receiving needed money.

I expected my refund, as, the IRS, had stated in a prior April 24, announcement, as being the original date of May 9. Then, I did the math; May 9 minus five days, actually I subtracted only four days, just to be safe, and my answer was May 5.

May 5, has come and gone, and still no refund! With no refund on May 5, I went to the IRS Website: http://www.irs.gov
It was there I found the link which took me to the spot where I could check the exact date I would get my Tax Stimulus check. I answered the three required questions correctly by giving my Social Security number, the amount of my IRS tax refund for 2007, and my number of dependents listed on my 2007 tax filing. The date given was May 9.

May 9, was the original date of delivery, prior to the announcement of the early delivery, and, not including the five-day rollback. There is no difference between the original date of delivery and today.

My excitement of the early refund continues to dwindle by the hour. Was it a scam to announce April 28, as the new date to begin refunds? Some, people, have received their refunds early. But, I haven't read, nor, have I heard a lot regarding these refunds. I do not believe it was the grand, early refund date rollback, as, it was cracked up to be, and, if it was, where is my early refund, as, I think a lot of others might be asking.

One thing is apparent; the new date of April 28, was the new official announcement, and it was exciting news. But, anything past the announcement date, regarding finding out any information from the IRS website has not changed. No new scheduled payment dates, no new information, the same old information, as, if there never was the announcement of an early payment..

How foolish it was, for me, to have thought the IRS would revamp the “schedule of payment dates,” when announcing the “first day of payments,” had been rolled-back, and would begin on April 28, rather than May 2. For, me, May 9, remains May 9. What about you? Has your date come and gone? Did you get an early refund?
Or, are you like me, still, scratching your head, and wondering, "where is my (early) Tax Stimulus Refund?"
